While many cities are adopting ambitious climate action plans and looking for routes to implement their goals, businesses are also under increasing pressure from stakeholders and regulators to establish and deliver on robust climate targets. To meet these goals, both cities and businesses need to look at innovative models of project delivery and financing. With the influx of federal funding through the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) and Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, there is a unique opportunity for collaboration and partnerships between governments, companies, communities, investors and other stakeholders. With collaborative project development, public and private funding can maximize the potential benefits of climate related investments including creating jobs, cutting emissions and expanding access to affordable, energy saving technologies.
